The European Union plans to become the largest investor of the Rogun hydroelectric power station, Reuters said.
with the help of investments in the project of a hydroelectric power station, the EU wants to help Tajikistan get rid of Russian and Chinese influence. In 2016, the Tajikistan began the construction of a giant Rogun hydroelectric power station, which can ensure complete energy independence to the country of the former USSR, which has no access to the sea. Rogun hydroelectric power station should become the highest dam in the world.
After the completion of the construction, the country will be able to be independent of Russian energy and even begin to export electricity to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Presumably about $ 8 billion will be spent on the implementation of the project, $ 3 billion has already been spent. The government in Dushanbe requested the EU financial and technological support to complete the project. According to the representative of the European Union, whose name is not called, investments from the European side should also interfere with the implementation of the Chinese global project “One belt-one path” in Tajikistan. At the moment, Dushanbe has not commented on this news.
