Consumer price (IPC) index in the eurozone in March decreased to 2.2% in annual terms.
The European Statistical Agency (Eurostat) published the final data on inflation in the Eurozone and the European Union (EU) for March.
According to these data, annual inflation in the eurozone, which amounted to 2.3%in February, decreased to 2.2%in March. IPC in March grew by 0.6% in monthly calculus. Basic inflation in the eurozone (excluding energy prices, food, alcohol and tobacco products) in March amounted to 2.4% in annual terms and 1% in monthly.
Thus, inflation in the eurozone in March remains higher than the target indicator of the European Central Bank (ECB) in 2%.
Analysis of the main components of inflation in the eurozone in March shows that the highest annual inflation rate was observed in the service sector – 1.56%. The following are food, alcohol and tobacco products (0.57%), non -industrial products (0.16%), and energy prices decreased by 0.1%.
In the EU, annual inflation also decreased from 2.7% in February to 2.5% in March. IPC in the EU in March grew by 0.5% in monthly calculus.
According to harmonized EU data, the highest levels of annual inflation in March were recorded in Romania (5.1%), Hungary (4.8%) and Poland (4.4%).
In March, annual inflation in Germany amounted to 2.3%, in France – 0.9%, in Italy – 2.1%, and in Spain – 2.2%.
