“Despite the fact that Turkey provided Azerbaijan support during the second Karabakh war and all other problem points, Yerevan still has the opportunity to normalize bilateral relations with Ankara.” This was stated by the former deputy of the Armenian Parliament Stepa Safaryan, the Agency “Anadolu” reports.
He noted that the war in Karabakh worsened the introduction of Armenians about Turkey, but the window of opportunities for the dialogue between the two countries is still not closed.
“One of the most sensitive issues of normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey remains the topic of the Zangezur Corridor, which will open the message of Turkey with Azerbaijan through Nakhchivan,” Safaryan said.
Ex-deputy attracted attention to the position of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikola Pashinyan, who against the background of tough criticism, he is trying to take steps to normalize relations with Turkey.
According to Safaryan, a serious obstacle on this process for the Armenian premiere remains the topic of the Zangezur corridor.
“Pashinyan stands for a dialogue with Ankara, although it is well aware that it will face a serious criticism of fellow citizens. But it seems to me that this is not realized in Turkey,” he said.
Former parliamentary also believes that the dialogue on the normalization of links between Armenia and Turkey will benefit in a bilateral format without the participation of third countries.
