Former Deputy Assistant Secretary on Europe and Eurasia State Department of the United States David Merkel, speaking on the panel on the topic: “South Caucasus: regional development and prospects for cooperation” within the framework of the VIII Baku Global Forum “Peace after COVID-19”, said that Karabakh conflict prevented the development of the region of the South Caucasus.
In his opinion, the establishment of cooperation between the countries of the region will contribute to its development.
“The activities of the OSCE Minsk Group turned out to be unsuccessful. International organizations should continue their missions. It is necessary to work on the values uniting the countries of the South Caucasus,” Merkel said.
