Former Turkish President Abdullah Gul criticized the court verdict against the mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu in the form of two years and 7 months in prison for insulting the CEC members, reports the publication Cumhuriyet.
“Today’s court decision is a great injustice not only in relation to the Imamoglu ecrama, but also in relation to Turkey. The will of the nation is above all, correct this mistake. I believe that the senior courts will correct this injustice,” Gul wrote in his own in his Twitter.
In the event that the decision is supported by the Turkish appeal and Supreme Court, the Imamoglu will be banned for a policy for a period of five years.
