Ex-president Of Ukraine Yanukovych Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison

The court of Kyiv sentenced the ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to 15 years in prison in the case of illegal transfer across the border and incitement to desertion.

The corresponding sentence was announced on Monday by Judge Lyudmila Kazmirenko, the prosecutor of the Maidan Denis Ivanov, who represented the state prosecution in this case, told Ukrinform.

“Podolsky district court sentenced to fifteen years in prison Viktor Yanukovych in the case of illegal transfer through the border and incitement to desertion. The court also sentenced to ten years in prison Konstantin Kobzar – then the deputy chief of the Presidential Security Service,” he said.

According to Ivanov, it was about such punishment to Yanukovych and Kobzar that prosecutors asked in court.

“The court agreed that the prosecution was justified and proved and sentenced them to the maximum possible punishment,” the prosecutor commented on the verdict.
