The Baku Court of Appeal examined the appeal of the former judge of the Sabunchinsky district court Fagan Akhmedov, sentenced by the Baku court on serious crimes by 10 years in prison on charges of killing a wife from firearms.
According to Haqqin.az, at a meeting, chaired by Judge Elmar Ragimov, a court decision was announced, according to which Akhmedov was reduced from 10 to 7 years.
According to the lawyer of the accused, Belarus Mamishv, making a decision, the court took into account the presence of three minor children in his client, the absence of complaints from the victim, work in the judicial system and other mitigating punishment of circumstances. On these grounds, Article 62 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan was applied to Fagan Akhmedov, and the term of its conclusion was reduced by 3 years.
The tragedy occurred in May 2021 in the Laish Baglara residential array of the village of Nardaran. During the family quarrel, Fagan Akhmedov shot his wife Parvan Akhmedov from his hunting rifle. A criminal case was instituted against Fagan Akhmedov on the fact of intentional murder.
