Antique city Faselis is located in the Kemer region of the Turkish province of Antalya.
Today, excavations are being taken in the city in order to identify the underground part of the main street, which was used by famous historical personalities, such as Caesar and Alexander Macedonian.
Faselis attracts both local and foreign tourists. Here, tourists have the opportunity to swim on the beach, as well as take a walk among the ruins of an ancient city.
Excavations in the ancient city are supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.
Head of the Department of Ancient History of the Faculty of History of the University of Akdeniz prof. Murat Arslan told Anadolu that the ancient city of Faselis was founded in the 7th century BC
According to him, excavations are currently underway to identify the underground part of the main street.
“The main street has a length of about 225 meters, a width of 12 meters. This is a street that connected the central port of Faselis with the southern port and the main trading axis. On both sides of the street are city agors, shops and public buildings,” said Arslan.
