Export Of Tea From Turkey In First Quarter Of Year Exceeded $ 6.2 Million

The volume of tea exports from Turkey in January-March of this year reached 6 million 206 thousand 512 dollars. This was reported by “Anadola” with reference to the data of the Union of Exporters of the East Black Sea region (DKİb).

According to DKİb, Türkiye in January – March of this year exported tea to 91 countries, autonomous and free zones.

Income from the sale of 1083 tons of tea in the period under consideration amounted to 6 million 206 thousand 512 dollars.

In the top 3, the leading importers of Turkish tea in the first quarter of the year included Belgium, Great Britain and the USA.

Tea export from Turkey to Belgium in the period under consideration amounted to 1 million 550 thousand 57 dollars, Great Britain – 1 million 112 thousand 435 dollars and the USA – 472,601 dollars.

Unlike the same period last year, in the period under review, the export of Turkish tea was also carried out to Italy, Jordan, Oman, Mexico, Spain, Papua-New Guinea, Greece, Seychelles, Zamybia, Bahami Islands, Morocco, Mozambique and Niger.

The storage of the Turkish province of Riza accounts for 44 percent of sales from the total export of Turkish tea.

In the first three months of the year, 670 tons of tea in 19 countries were exported from the province of Riza, including Belgium. The income from these sales amounted to 2 million 747 thousand 542 dollars.

“Interest in Turkish tea in the world market is growing every day”

In an interview with an anadol correspondent, the deputy head of the Union of Exporters of the East Black Sea region (DKİB) and the chairman of the relevant committee of the tea sector Shaban Turgut said that Turkish tea is an important product for the country’s economy and region.

He noted that interest in Turkish tea in the world market is growing every day.

“We believe that the export of these products will reach a higher level thanks to the promotion and trade delegation programs. We will concentrate our efforts in this direction,” said Turgut.

According to him, representatives of the sector are waiting for high export indicators in the coming days.

“We are observing the growth of interest in Turkish tea, especially in European countries. We have high -quality products, we have production facilities to satisfy this interest,” Turgut said.

Our goal is a further increase in exports to Europe, to the Middle East, in the USA and the countries of East and Southeast Asia, ”he added.
