The Egyptian oppositionist and former leader of the Onur party Ahmed Tantavi returned to the country a few weeks after his announcement of the possible participation in the presidential election. “I returned to a country in which I was not for nine months,” the politician wrote on social networks.
Tantavi noted that he plans to spend five days with his family. “Further intensive advice, public and private meetings will begin,” the politician said.
The opposition left Egypt and moved to Lebanon in August 2022.
In his April statement in Beirut, Tantavi said that “considering the possibility of nominating his candidacy in the presidential election, which will be held in Egypt in 2024.”
