Famous oppositionist faces 10 years in Russia

The municipal deputy of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow, oppositionist Ilya Yashin, after the completed search, is taken for interrogation to the Investigative Committee, Interfax reports.

Yashin is charged with an article by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the spread of knowingly false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The punishment under this article provides for up to 10 years in prison.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that in Russia they opened a criminal case against Yashin under an article on the spread of fakes on the RF Armed Forces. Until now, Yashin was under administrative arrest in a special detention center. He was arrested for 15 days on charges of disobedience to the police officer (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation) on June 28. On Tuesday, he was supposed to be released.
