The Security Service of Ukraine detained the propagandist from the Russian television channel Russia Today, which distributed fakes about the war in the European Union. This was reported by the press center of the SBU.
The name of the arrested is not called, but it is known that his roommate was detained with him. According to the agency, to spread fakes, an unnamed journalist used his channels on YouTube and Telegram, the general audience of which was about half a million subscribers.
“In messages and plots, a foreigner supported the invasion of the Russian Federation and justified its war crimes against the civilian population and the critical infrastructure of Ukrainian cities. He also distributed misinformation from the front and called on the EU countries to limit assistance to Ukraine,” the SBU said.
Law enforcement officers found that he arrived in Ukraine before the war and settled in the Chernihiv region, where, after the beginning of hostilities, he began to carry out “editorial tasks of RT”. He attracted a roommate to his work, she helped him to mount stories for foreign spectators.

Law enforcement officers also reported the arrest of two figures of Russian propaganda working in the Dnipropetrovsk region – a native of the Ukrainian city of Pokrov and a resident of Novomoskovsk. The woman passes under Art. 111-1 (collaboration), and a man – under Art. 109 (actions aimed at violent change or overthrow of the constitutional system or seizure of state power).
