The Government and Finnish companies are preparing to stop the supply of natural gas from Russia in May, the article by Helsingin Sanomat.
The reason is the requirements of Russia on the procedure for payment of supplies. According to the publication, the Russian company Gazprom announced that consent to new payment requirements is a condition for continuing the uninterrupted gas supplies.
The Finnish leadership unequivocally stated that it would not pay in rubles. Gazprom asked the Finnish state gas company Gasum to respond to the requirements until May 20. According to sources in the EU, this period is the same for many other countries of the European Union. It is possible that on May 21, the supply of Russian gas to Finland and most of Europe will be stopped.
