Finland: number of supporters of country’s entry into NATO is growing

The number of supporters of Finland’s entry into NATO among the Finns has grown to 65%, writes Helsingin Sanomat with reference to the Kantar TNS survey.

Among men, 70% of respondents are for joining NATO, 59% among women.

The highest support for the alliance in the all -age groups and the lowest in the youngest Finns. Nevertheless, more than half of people under 30 are already advocated for joining the military union.

The study was conducted on the Gallup Forum Internet panel on April 22-27, 2022 among 1062 respondents. The error of the survey results is about 3 percentage points. The survey was attended by representatives of the whole country, with the exception of the province of Aland, aged 18 to 79 years.

Finland and Sweden plan to apply for joining NATO already in May. Thus, both countries decided to speed up the joining procedure without waiting for the planned summit of the alliance, which will take place at the end of June.
