Finland will announce a decision on submitting an application for membership in NATO on May 12. This was reported by the Finnish newspaper Iltalehti with reference to sources.
According to the publication, the country’s President Sauli Ninist on May 12 will announce that he was advocating the country’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance. After his appeal, the parties of the parliament will perform, which will support the position of the head of state.
Iltalehti writes that until May 12, the Finnish parliament committees will complete the discussion of the report on foreign policy and security policy. After that, the application for submitting an application for membership in NATO is planned to be transferred to the block without additional discussions in the committees and without voting, the newspaper notes.
