Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto spoke about the results of discussing the issue in Berlin at a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries. He noted that the process of coordinating the application may be accompanied by certain difficulties and it is important to “show restraint and calm.” According to him, the acquisition of membership can last from four months to a year.

Criticism sounds from the left alliance, whose deputies believe that the entry into NATO is fraught with Finland to become a front -line in the potential war of the Russian Federation with the West. The left alliance insists that Finland should abandon permanent military bases on its territory and the placement of nuclear weapons – like Denmark and Norway.

The Minister of Defense Anti Kaikkonen noted that Finland is not going to ask for the placement of nuclear weapons on its territory and no one pushed Helsinki to this.
