Finland terminated contract with Rosatom

The Finnish project company Fennovoima terminated the contract with Rosatom for the construction of the Khanhikivi-1 NPP in Finland.

Fennovoima specified that cooperation with the RAOS project is stopped with immediate entry into force, work on design and licensing, work on the Khanhikivi-1 site with Rosatom, also stops, RIA Novosti reports.

The Khanhikivi-1 project provided for the construction of a single-block nuclear power plant based on a modern VVER-1200 generation of Russian design reactor 3+, with a capacity of 1200 MW. Fennovoima Oy was the customer, the owner and operator of the future nuclear power plant. The general supplier of the Khanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant was the company Raos Project (part of Rosatom). The project was at the stage of licensing and preparatory work at the site of the nuclear power plant.
