On September 30, Azerbaijani tourism bureau and the Azerbaijani Hotel Association held a ceremony of the Star Hotel Rating on the basis of the National Star Classification System.
In the course of his speech, the chairman of the State Agency for Tourism Fuad Nagiyev noted that after the cancellation of tourism licenses in 2015, the services offered by a number of hotels did not coincide with the “Star” rating, and in some cases the classification was not at all .
f. Nagiyev stressed that the hotel sector is one of the main pillar of the tourism industry, and added that the national system was created for the classification of hotels on the basis of international standards and criteria with local realities.
He noted that according to preliminary check, unfortunately, some hotels could not get the stated “Star” rating due to the current conditions and the spectrum of the services offered, as well as due to flaws in quality.
In this regard, it was noted that the State Tourism Agency, the Azerbaijani Tourism Bureau and the Azerbaijani Association will provide advice to the hotel that did not receive the stated ranking.
Chief Executive Officer of Azerbaijani Bureau Florian Zengstshmid also added that the assignment of “stars” on the basis of the national classification system will contribute to healthy competition between hotels and will give them more chances to effectively declare themselves.
The event was also made by the Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Tair Mirkishili and Chairman of the Board of the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Business (Kobosa) Orhan Mamedov
After that, the quality certificates were awarded 17 hotels successfully passed the check.
We note that in December 2019, the Azerbaijani accreditation center provided an accreditation certificate certificate to the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau to assess the conformity to assign “stars” hotels.
According to the document, the introduction of the National System “Star” classification of hotels is carried out in accordance with the Agreement on Joint Activities, signed between the Azerbaijani Tourism Bureau and the Azerbaijan Association.
