The Command of the Air Force of Turkey transferred the first F-16 fighters, modernized by the efforts of domestic companies. This was announced on Twitter by the head of the Department of Defense Industry of Turkey Ismail Demir.
The domestic project for modernization of F-16 fighters was initiated by the Office of the Defense Industry under the Administration of the President of Turkey and was called özgür (“Free”).
, as part of this project, the aircraft replaced radars, control systems, avionics, etc., which made it possible to increase the life of the F-16 Block-30 from 8 thousand to 12 thousand hours.
According to Anadol, a similar modernization process is provided for F-16 Block 40 and 50 versions. Thus, aircraft will be able to be used until the 2040s
Domestic systems of Avionics are integrated on the plane, which brought the cars to the Viper level.
Since the on-board computer of the upgraded F-16 is domestic, it will be possible to integrate other technological solutions to the development of the Turkish defense industry into airplanes.
Thanks to domestic communication systems, F-16 pilots will be able to establish communication with UAVs, including shock, as well as with other aircraft and marine platforms.
