Israeli Minister of Defense Beni Ganz will visit Turkey next week. Israeli media write about this and emphasize that such a visit will take place for the first time in 10 years.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were torn a few years ago due to the position of Ankara on the Palestinian issue. However, both sides recently settled tension and restored relations.
It is reported that Beni Ganz will meet in Ankara with an honorary guard, he will negotiate with his Turkish colleague, Hulushi Akar. The purpose of the visit and issues that will be discussed are not disclosed. However, the Israeli press draws attention to two points: this visit will pass just a few days before the parliamentary elections in Israel and a short time after the visit of Ganz to Baku.
The Jerusalem Post recalls that Beni Hanz had previously visited the close ally of Turkey – Azerbaijan – and held negotiations on security and military cooperation between the two countries.
It is interesting that the day after the visit of Ganz to Azerbaijan, the command of the Turkish army in full force visited Baku, led by the Minister of Defense, Hulushi Akar. Such a chronology of visits gave rise to the assumption that Israel and Turkey are preparing to further deepen relations with Azerbaijan – in opposition to the destructive role of Iran in the region.
