The Ministry of Youth and Sports for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan compiled its own rating of athletes.
For occupied places (from 1 to 8) at such adult competitions as the Olympic Games, World Cups and Europe, European Games, Islamiad, as well as World Cups, Grand Prix Tournaments, etc. Athletes will receive a certain number of points. For example, the victory at the Olympics is estimated at 150 points, silver at 125, bronze – in 100, etc. The gold of the World Cup will bring 100 points, silver – 90, bronze – 80. For 1st place at the European Championship, the athlete will receive 80 points, for silver – 70, for bronze – 60, etc.
As for the points for high results in other competitions, then they will vary depending on the sport, since in each form such starts as the World Cup, the Grand Prix, the “large helmet” and others have different weights.
The rating will be updated monthly. Now it takes into account the results from January of this year, and from January 2023 the rating will constantly cover achievements over the past year.
In the ranking of the Ministry of Sports, a stable performance of a particular athlete comes to the fore. Therefore, sometimes an athlete showing stable results throughout the year can be higher in the ranking of an athlete who has achieved a large, but only one success.
At the moment, the table is headed by the shooter Ruslan Lunev. His asset is 180 points. This amount was as follows: 20 points-for participation in the European Championship, 35-for 4th place in the World Cup, 40-for 1st place in the Grand Prix, 35-for 2nd place in the Grand Prix, 50 – for 2nd place in the World Cup.
2nd place is occupied by the group team of Azerbaijan in rhythmic gymnastics, on the account of which is 140 points. Our groups won gold (60 points) and silver (50) at the recent World Cup in Baku, and also in one of the finals took 5th place there (30).
In 3rd place in the judo ranking, Mamedali Mehtiev, who has 135 points. This year he became the bronze medalist of the European Championship (60 points), became the winner (40) and the silver medalist (30) of the Bolshoi helmet tournament.
