For the first time since the beginning of the war in Syria more than ten years ago, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdalla Ben Zaid Al Najiang met with the head of Syria Bashar Assad, reports Alabiya.
It is reported that Assad acted al Najiana along with the delegation in the capital of Syria Damascus, they discussed “bilateral relations of fraternal countries and ways to expand cooperation in various fields representing mutual interest.”
Al Najian During the meeting, he emphasized the interest of the UAE in “ensuring security, stability and unity”. He also expressed support for any efforts to “terminate the war in Syria, the establishment of stability in this country and the satisfaction of the aspirations of the Syrian people.”
Recall, the UAE broke up relations with Damascus in February 2012. Recently, two countries are taking steps to reconcile. In December 2018, the UAE reopened its embassy in Damascus, and in March 2021 – made a recovery of Syrian membership in the Arab League.
