Foreign Minister Of Armenia Said That Yerevan Is Ready To Sign Peace Treaty With Baku

Armenia is ready to sign an agreement on peace with Azerbaijan as soon as possible. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Ararat Mirzoyan at a meeting with the Italian colleague Antonio Tayani, who was held in New York on the fields of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, TASS reports.

Mirzoyan emphasized that “the vision of Armenia to ensure stability in the region is based on the unconditional respect of the territorial integrity, principles of indestructibility of borders, as well as initiatives aimed at ensuring economic interconnectedness.”

Earlier, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jae Yohun Bayramov said that at present the biggest obstacle to the conclusion of a peace treaty are territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian Constitution.

“A significant part of the project was agreed in the negotiation process, but the Armenia Constitution and some other regulatory acts still contain territorial claims to Azerbaijan,” Bayramov said.
