Inaction during the occupation of Azerbaijani lands a number of international organizations undermined the current agenda of normalization.
About this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jahun Bayramov, said at a meeting with a delegation headed by the Secretary General of the Inter -Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong.
At a meeting in Baku, the prospects for the development of existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Inter -Parliamentary Union were discussed, as well as the current situation in the region.
Bayramov noted that the Inter -Parliamentary Union has an important mandate in terms of establishing ties, the exchange of views and contacts between parliaments of different countries, and noted that Azerbaijan also takes an active part in the activities of the Union.
The head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry indicated the broad prospects for cooperation of the Inter -Parliamentary Union and the Parliamentary Network Network (DN), the basis of which were laid during the period of the chairmanship of Azerbaijan.
Bayramov noted that the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Geneva this year, will be useful in terms of discussing the possibilities of cooperation.
The Minister also attracted attention to the fact that in 2024 in Azerbaijan the 29th session of the conference of the parties (COP29) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is the largest event of the UN system.
Bayramov provided detailed information about the preparatory work done in this direction, and also expressed the hope that the Inter -Parliamentary Union will take an active part in the event.
The head of the department informed the guests in detail about the current situation in the region in the post -conflict period, the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, as well as peaceful initiatives.
Bayramov said that after local anti -terrorist measures held in the Karabakh region last year, representatives of the UN and a number of other international organizations visited the region for the first time in 30 years.
The Foreign Minister noted that a number of international organizations that demonstrated inaction during the occupation of Azerbaijani lands and conflict, undermined the current agenda of normalization.
The last step of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe against Azerbaijan is regarded in the tank as another demonstration of such double standards.
General Secretary Martin Chungong expressed satisfaction with the next visit to Baku and said that the Inter -Parliamentary Union is interested in the further development of cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Having expressed confidence in the successful presidency of Azerbaijan, who will accept COP29 this year, Chungong said that the establishment of close contacts with previous chairmans on the organization of this event demonstrates Azerbaijan’s system approach to the work done.
During the meeting, a detailed exchange of views was held on other issues representing mutual interest.
