Foreign Minister of Russian Federation and Belarus noted activation of Belarusian-Russian interaction

Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting in St. Petersburg emphasized the activation of Belarusian-Russian interaction in the format of the Union State.

According to the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Higher State Council of the Union State.

The ministers discussed the issues of foreign policy cooperation and the implementation of the program of agreed actions in foreign policy on 2024 – 2026.

The meeting was raised by the topic of integration construction, and also emphasized significant activation in 2022-2023 of the Belarusian-Russian interaction in the format of the Union State.

Aleinik and Lavrov with satisfaction noted the consistent increase in the intensity of the Belarusian-Russian regional cooperation, the expansion of the spectrum of directions and forms of cooperation of the two countries.

In addition, in the context of the upcoming 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the fascist invaders and against the backdrop of the 80th anniversary of the complete removal of the fascist blockade of Leningrad, the ministers emphasized the unchanged commitment of Minsk and Moscow to defend historical truth and the prevention of falsification and rewriting the events of the Great Patriotic War.

Considered joint initiatives on this topic, including on multilateral sites.

The parties discussed interaction within the SCO and BRICS, as well as joint projects in international organizations. The ministers confirmed the intention to continue to come from a single position and provide mutual support.
