The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Dandias will visit Turkey today, where he will meet his Turkish colleague Mevlut Chavushoglu, the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will be accompanied by his Turkish colleague, Mevlut Chavushol, will meet with members of the Greek rescue team operating in areas that have been caused by catastrophic damage from recent earthquakes. Dandias will also visit the operational center in the anesier and will be informed about the latest events regarding the efforts to save people from the rubble, as well as the needs for humanitarian assistance, ”the message says.
“During the visit, the ways of further assistance to Greece in overcoming the destructive consequences of earthquakes will also be considered,” the department said.
The Greece Foreign Minister instructed the constant representative office of Greece at the UN in Geneva to take measures to provide emergency humanitarian aid of Turkey and Syria through the UN Office for the coordination of humanitarian issues. In addition, the deputy head of the department Andreas Katsaniotis took upon itself the coordination of organizations and individuals who want to assist in the collection of humanitarian aid for the injured areas of Turkey and Syria, the report said.
