The head of Turkish diplomacy arrived in Laos to participate in a tripartite meeting of the partnership in the sectarian dialogue Turkey Asian, organized in the fields of the 57th conference of ASEAN.
The parties discussed the state of bilateral relations, economic issues and cooperation in the field of energy.
There was also an exchange of views regarding the conflict in Ukraine, the development of events in the gas sector, the situation in Syria and other issues of the regional agenda.

In 2015, Türkiye applied for the status of the Asean sector partner by dialogue. ASEAN sector partners are discussing topics such as trade, tourism and investments. The Turkish application was approved on August 5, 2017 during the 50th meeting of Foreign Ministers of the ASEAN countries.
Turkish turnover with the ASEAN countries increased from $ 6.5 billion in 2010 to $ 12 billion in 2017. In 2022, this indicator amounted to $ 14.8 billion in 2022, and in 2023 – $ 14.6 billion.
