The Foreign Minister of Turkey Hakan Fidan congratulated Azerbaijan on the Day of National Salvation and the signing of the Shushinsky Declaration.
Today, both the day of the national salvation of Azerbaijan and the anniversary of the signing of the “Shushin Declaration”, which further strengthens the natural allied relations between us. Congratulations! We are always united in grief and in joy with our Azerbaijani brothers, we are alone nation, two states, ”the minister wrote on Twitter.
In Azerbaijan on Wednesday, June 15 celebrates the day of national salvation. Exactly 30 years ago, the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, returning to power, saved the Azerbaijani people, the state and the nation from the split.
In his speech at a meeting of the Milli Majlis on June 15, 1993, Heydar Aliyev announced a new strategy for the development of statehood of Azerbaijan.
This date went down in the history of Azerbaijan as a day of national salvation. On this day, at the request of the people, Heydar Aliyev returned to power for the second time and was elected chairman of the Supreme Council. Thus, the end of tension and confrontation in society was laid, the country was saved from the threat of a civil war and a split.
Also, today it has been executed two years since the signing of the “Shushinsky declaration” between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The document was signed by the presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev on June 15, 2021 in the cultural capital of Azerbaijan – the city of Shusha.
The document is called the “Shushinsky declaration of allied relations between the Azerbaijan Republic and the Turkish Republic”.
The declaration was ratified by Milli Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan on February 1, 2022, and the Great National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey – February 3.
One of the declarations states that in the event of a threat or aggression by the third state or states regarding independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of the borders of one of the countries, “the parties will provide each other with the necessary assistance in accordance with the UN Charter.”
