Foreign Minister Of Turkey: Middle Corridor Becomes Most Reliable Trading Route Between Asia And Europe

Time showed that the average corridor through Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus and Turkey is the most reliable and economical route for trading between Asia and Europe.

This was stated by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey Hakan Fidan, speaking at the opening of the 2nd tripartite meeting of foreign ministers, economics, trade and transport of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

The head of the department noted that meetings in such a format are “a suitable platform for discussing projects that will improve the economic, transport and energy connectedness of the ancient Turkestan, the Caucasus and Anatolia, which are geographical territories associated with each other, the bonds of the fraternity.”

The diplomat emphasized that “today the mechanisms of strategic cooperation that support the development and prosperity in general geography are necessary than ever.”

The head of Turkish diplomacy stated that malfunctions in the supply chains due to pandemia and armed conflicts that flashed in the region shocked the fundamental foundations of the world system.

Fidan indicated that the energy crisis provoked by sanctions and counter -sanctions increased the geostrategic significance of Central Asia and the Caucasus, even more positioning Turkey as an energy hub.

According to him, “satisfactory and promising” events in Syria opened a “new window of opportunities” for the region. “We must hand in hand to support the restoration and development of Syria,” the minister called.

He added that “Syria stability and progress will ensure regional stability and safety, opening new opportunities in logistics, transport, trade and energy.”

touching the agenda of a tripartite meeting, he said that Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will discuss the possibilities of cooperation on projects to ensure interconnectedness, political and economic partnership. According to him, the agreed issues will be recorded in a joint declaration.

The head of the foreign policy, said that during the meeting, the “road map” will be developed to implement specific steps that must be taken in the future. “As the first point of the agenda, we will discuss with our Azerbaijani and Uzbek colleagues events that have a direct impact on our countries and the region in terms of foreign policy issues and regional cooperation.”

According to him, the second point of the agenda will be focused on expanding cooperation in the field of trade, economics and investment. At the same time, he attracted attention to the growing volume of Turkish turnover with the countries of the Turkic world.

Fidan also noted that the ministers of the transport of three fraternal countries will discuss the development of regional transport routes and strengthening cooperation in the field of transport and communications.
