Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will take part in the 31st meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The meeting organized by Malta, who in 2024 acts as the chairman of the OSCE, will be held in the city of Valletta on December 5-6.
According to information received from diplomatic sources, a meeting of the Council of Ministers, held on a regular basis at the end of each year, is distinguished as the most important directive and executive body of the OSCE.
It is expected that about 40 members of the OSCE, consisting of 57 members, will take part in the ministerial meeting in Malta. In addition, the participation of the Asian and Mediterranean partners of the organization for cooperation is expected.
The meeting provides for assessing the security situation in the Euro -Atlantic and Eurasian geography, discuss current challenges and exchange views on OSCE agenda.
This year, this year is also expected to discuss the appointments to four senior positions in the OSCE, including the Secretary General of the Organization.
The chairmanship in the OSCE in 2025 will move from Malta to Finland.
Turkish Foreign Minister will perform at the first general meeting of the ministerial meeting, which will be held on December 5th.
In his speech, Hakan Fidan will draw attention to the fact that the OSCE is the most comprehensive platform of security and cooperation in Europe, which then should remain an integral component of the architecture of European security. It is expected that the minister will also emphasize the support of the functionality and inclusiveness of the OSCE. In addition, it is planned to note the support of Turkey territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as the priority that Ankara allocates diplomacy and dialogue to ensure a fair and durable world.
The Minister will also inform that the security in the OSCE region is inextricably linked with safety in neighboring regions, and in this context it will draw attention to the importance of establishing a long -term world and stability in the Middle East.
