The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba compared the counterattack in the country with the battle for Rome during the Second World War.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Dmitry Kuleba’s statement in an interview with Corriere Della Sera.
Answering the question of why the Ukrainian counter -offset “does not work”, the minister said that it was coming slowly but stable.
The greatest problems, according to him, are “strong defensive positions built by Russians over the past year.”
“It is not easy for our soldiers to go forward. But in the end we will do it. I think about the battle of Monte Cassino during the Second World War in Italy. At first the allies were blocked by formidable German positions, it took them four months to win them but then they managed to fire Rome, ”the minister said.
He noted that Ukrainian troops are in a similar situation.
“I am sure that we will win,” Kuleba emphasized.
