Foreign Minister Of Ukraine: Kyiv Seeks To Put An End To Conflict With Russian Federation This Year

Ukraine seeks to put an end to the conflict with the Russian Federation this year, and works with partners to achieve this goal.

This is the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrei Sibiga wrote on the social network X based on negotiations with the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Ronald Lamola in Praetory on Thursday, April 24.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy said that during a separate bilateral meeting he informed Lamola about the current peaceful efforts of Ukraine, including recent discussions in Paris and London.

“I informed the Minister Lamola about peaceful efforts, including the last meetings in Paris and London, and the steps of Ukraine to the world. We want to end this war this year. And we work with partners to achieve this,” Sibiga wrote on social networks x.

According to Sibigi, during the meeting, the development paths of mutually beneficial bilateral partnership of Ukraine and South Africa were discussed in detail. “We strive to expand cooperation in all areas, including food security, agricultural technologies, education and digitalization,” follows from the text of the publication.

Ukraine highly appreciates the chairmanship of South Africa in the Group of Twenty and supports its priorities aimed at ensuring greater justice in global management and increasing the significance of Africa’s agenda in the field of development, Sibiga said.

“The visit of the President of Zelensky, although interrupted due to a massive Russian air attack on Ukraine, is an important milestone in our bilateral relations. This is the first official visit of the President to the African country,” follows the publication. The visit indicates that we attach great importance to our relations, the minister believes.

“We are working to realize diplomatic activity in success history for both countries,” Sibiga said.

Zelensky, who arrived in Praetory with a state visit, previously announced that he canceled part of the program because of Russian aircraft and will return to Ukraine earlier than planning. “I cancel part of the program of this visit and after meeting with the President of South Africa I immediately return to Ukraine,” wrote the Ukrainian leader in the telegram channel.

The Head of State noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrei Sibiga will hold all the necessary meetings in South Africa to fully inform the country’s political and public leaders about the situation.
