Türkiye retains the commitment of the territorial integrity and stability of Libya. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakan Fidan following negotiations with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (PNU) Libya Abdel Hamid Dbeybe.
“I confirmed the support of the integrity, stability and prosperity of Libya,” Fidan said.
The minister emphasized that Turkey and Libya are connected by “fraternal relations that have very deep historical roots.”
According to him, during the negotiations the parties discussed a wide range of issues, including related regional security and stability.
“We had the opportunity to consider what joint actions Turkey and Libya can take in relation to some conflicts, problems and civil wars, especially in southern Africa,” he said.
The head of the department added that the parties exchanged views on the fight against terrorism and counteracting illegal migration.
He also noted that the meeting participants “mutually confirmed their views” regarding the resumption of flights of the Turkish National Airline Turkish Airlines (Thy) to Libya.
The negotiations were affected by issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of economics, education and the topic of the visa regime between the two countries.
