Ankara retains the adherence to the support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Turkey, dedicated to the 11th anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea.
The department emphasized that Türkiye does not recognize the “actual situation in the Crimea.”
“We again declare that Türkiye does not recognize the actual situation in the Crimea, which is a violation of international law, and supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry recalled that the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in Ukraine was annexed as a result of the illegal “referendum”.
The statement emphasizes that both Türkiye will continue to be carefully monitor and keep the events in the Crimea on the agenda of the international community, especially the position of the indigenous people of the peninsula – Crimean Tatars.
