Georgian Foreign Ministry condemned the meeting in Minsk of the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko with de facto President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhanya.
”This action grossly violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within the international recognized boundaries and is an attempt to legalize the Russian occupation regime,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
The department called on Belarus to “respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within the internationally recognized boundaries, to stop taking actions that contradict the fundamental principles and norms of international law.”
Lukashenko today said that he did not understand Tbilisi’s protests about his contacts with Sukhumi.
