Resolutions of the chambers of the French parliament (Senate and the National Assembly), which contains the introduction of sanctions against Azerbaijan, do not reflect the official line of Paris. This was stated by the representative of the Foreign Ministry of France, Agency France-Presse reports.
“This initiative of parliamentarians is not an official position of the French government and was adopted completely independently, in accordance with the principle of separation of powers,” said the French diplomat.
According to him, the position of the French government is well known. He reminded the statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Column that “France will continue to encourage the parties to move forward in negotiations to take the opportunity to achieve peace.”
Note that on November 15, the Senate and November 30 of the National Assembly of France adopted anti -azerbaijani resolutions with an appeal to the country’s authorities to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan for “aggression” against Armenia.
