NATO is not in a military conflict with Russia, and the supply of weapons to the state that is conducting self-defense is under the rules of the UN, said the press secretary of the Foreign Ministry of France Ann-Cler Lyandr.
“NATO is not fighting with Russia. None of our European and American partners are fighting with Russia. The supply of equipment that is conducting self -defense is provided for by Article 51 of the UN Charter is not a joint participation in hostilities,” said Lyandr in an interview with RTVI TV channel on Saturday.
She emphasized that the issue of Ukraine joining NATO is not relevant now.
The press secretary of the Foreign Ministry of France also announced the desire of Paris to preserve the dialogue with Moscow.
“The very fact that we retain this (Macron Putin) Channel for communication is important, and the fact is also important that we are trying to promote certain issues raised by Ukrainians,” said Lyandr.
