“Against this background of the day, it continues to maintain its significance as one of the most important mechanisms that ensure international security and stability. Of course, there are certain risks for its successful implementation, but they should not exaggerate them,” said Ryabkov.
According to the diplomat, these risks are mainly due to the fact that a number of countries, mainly Western ones, consider the contract as a tool for promoting their own political interests that are not related to strengthening the non -proliferation regime.
“The United States and its allies are trying to use days to impose their picture of global world ordering and realizing their ambitions. We see how, under the pretext of strengthening the nuclear non -proliferation regime, strategy for providing pressure on states that conduct an independent course in international affairs is being implemented,” said Ryabkov.
Answering the question of whether, in principle, there is a threat of the very existence of the contract, Ryabkov said that in a global plan such a threat is not seen.
“Days continues to function full formatically, one of the foundations of the architecture of international security remains. The uncontrolled nuclear weapons race may be destructive both for global stability and the progressive development of the relevant countries. The contract helps to avoid this,” the diplomat noted.
Commenting on critical comments addressed to Russia in connection with the placement of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, Ryabkov said that the steps taken by both countries within the framework of the unified defense space of the Union State are forced in nature.
“Since such criticism is heard in the vast majority of cases from the western capitals, it, to put it mildly, cannot but cause bewilderment.
