Foreign Ministry of Russian Federation: use of cassette ammunition is war crime

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in connection with the US decision to transfer to Ukraine the cassette ammunition reminded the words of the former press secretary of the White House that their use is a war crime.

“After a year and a half, the adviser to the American President Bayden on national security Jake Sullivan at a briefing in the White House stated the intention to transfer cassette ammunition to Ukraine.

We are waiting for the release of the press secretary Biden Karin Jean-Pierre, ”Zakharova wrote on the social network Telegram on Friday.

The diplomat accompanied its publication in a video, where Jen Psaki on February 28, 2022 stated that the use of cassette ammunition is a war crime.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that the decision to transfer cassette ammunition to Ukraine was made because of both Kiev and Washington had ordinary shells.

Biden added that this was a difficult solution.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington provides Ukraine with a new military aid package of $ 800 million including cassette ammunition.

Deputy Official Representative of the UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterrisha Farhan Khak, commenting on the US media reports that the United States will provide Ukraine with cassette ammunition, said that the head of the World Organization supports the Convention on the prohibition of cassette ammunition and opens against the use of this type of weapons on the battlefield.
