Foreign Ministry Of Turkey: Statements Regarding Events Of 1915 Have No Basis

“We completely reject the statements made by the officials of some countries regarding the events of 1915 in violation of historical facts and international law,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey said.

A written statement widespread by the ministry emphasizes that statements and initiatives of officials of some countries aimed at using past suffering with political motives in relation to 1915 events have no basis.

“We remind you that the efforts of radical circles to extract enmity from history should not be encouraged, and we again urge to support the ongoing process of normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia,” the Foreign Ministry said in the statement of the Foreign Ministry

Turkey has always advocated the development of peace, dialogue, mutual understanding and general prosperity at the global level and in its region, it is said in the statement, recalling that, based on this understanding, Turkey opened its archives and proposed creating a joint historical commission in order to rightly and scientifically study the events of 1915.

In this regard, the Turkish Foreign Ministry declares: “We completely reject the statements made regarding the events of 1915 in violation of historical facts and international law.”
