Türkiye plays a decisive role in the future of Euro -Atlantic security. This is stated in the publication on the page of the Turkish Foreign Ministry in X in connection with the 73rd anniversary of Turkish membership in NATO.
Turkey, having powerful armed forces, developed defense industry and multidimensional ties covering a wide geographical region, continues to make a critical contribution to international security and stability, the diplomatic mission emphasized.
“During the period when the future of Euro-Atlantic security is being formed, our country, being in solidarity with allies and acting in accordance with common interests and values, plays a decisive role in this process,” follows from the text.
Türkiye joined the North Atlantic Alliance on February 18, 1952. Documents about the accession were signed by the then president of the country, Jelal Bayar.
NATO has 12 founding members: USA, Great Britain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway and Portugal.
