Xenophobia in Europe began to gain momentum after a terrorist attack in the German city of Zolingen. This is stated in the report of the Turkish Foreign Ministry in connection with the 30th anniversary of the tragic events in Germany, where on May 29, 1993, a group of radicals arranged arson in the house of ethnic Turks, five people were killed.
“Along with five citizens of Turkey, who have become victims of radicals and xenophobes, today we honor the memory of the recently deceased Mevluda Gench, which, contrary to the loss of loved ones, called for preserving the order, which showed an example of high civil responsibility,” the message said later.
Turkey Foreign Ministry indicated that 30 years after the terrorist attack in Zolingen, crime continues to grow in Europe on the basis of xenophobia, racism and Islamophobia.
“Ankara is observing what is happening. Once again, we emphasize that they must combat the manifestations of xenophobia, racism and Islamophobia in order to prevent all forms of discrimination and prevent such tragedies. Turkey will continue the decisive struggle at all levels and on all platforms against manifestations of hatred that pose a threat not only for individual communities and persons, but also of humanity as a whole, ”the report said.
The department noted that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Yasin Ekrem Serim will take part in commemorative events in Zolingen.
