The flow of foreign tourists in Istanbul in January -November last year increased by 9 percent compared to the same period of 2022 – from 14 million 714 thousand 474 to 16 million 51 thousand 324 people. Such data are given by the Office for Culture and Tourism of Istanbul.
In November, the Turkish metropolis visited 1 million 288 thousand 610 foreign tourists, which is four percent less than a similar indicator for November 2022, when 1 million 341 thousand guests were in the city from abroad.
In November 2023, 1 million 245 thousand 518 of foreign tourists who arrived in Istanbul preferred air, and 43 thousand 92 people arrived by sea.
The number of foreign tourists who arrived in Istanbul by air traffic decreased by 6 percent, and the number of use by sea transport, on the contrary, increased by 131 percent compared to November 2022.
Ataturka Airport used 1419, the International Airport named after Sabiha Gekchen – more than 339 thousand, and the Istanbul airport – 905 thousand 90 (72.67 percent of the air traffic) guests of the Turkish metropolis.
In November, citizens of the Russian Federation compiled the main part of the flow of foreign tourists in Istanbul – 135 thousand 696 people.
The following is Germany – 89 thousand 810, Iran- 88 thousand 727, the USA – 61 thousand 566 and Great Britain – 51 thousand 371 people.
The top ten also includes Saudi Arabia (48 thousand 403), France (43 thousand 442), Italy (36 thousand 842), Uzbekistan (30 thousand 214) and Azerbaijan (27 thousand 113).
In addition, Istanbul in November became a popular area of tourism for tens of thousands of citizens of Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Algeria, Spain, China, India, Romania and Morocco.
Two tourists visited a metropolis from North Korea, San Tome and Principi, Vatican, East Timor, St. Vinadin and Grenadin and Gayana.
In November 2019, the tourist flow to Istanbul amounted to 1 million 88 thousand 372, in November 2020 439 thousand 920, and in November 2021- 997 thousand 620 people.
