Forest Fires In Portugal Took Lives Of 3 People, 20 Were Injured

Three people were killed and 20 people were injured as a result of forest fires, which continue in more than 30 areas in the north of Portugal.

According to Portugal’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, forest fires quickly covered the Aveira district for 24 hours, south of the city of Porto in the north of the country.

Among the dead there is a fire department, the condition of the three wounded critical.

, at the request of the Government of Portugal from the European Union, the European civil protection mechanism entered into force.

The mechanism of civil defense of the European Union will help Portugal without delay to receive fire equipment, including aviation, from other countries. Eight firefighters have already been sent from Spain, Italy, France and Greece.

In the zone of fires, eight highways are closed for traffic, residential areas are evacuated.
