Former acting President of Bolivia Jeanine Agnes was hiding under the bed when the police arrived to detain her. On Saturday, March 13, the newspaper El Deber reports.
Agnes was at her relatives’ home in Trinidad when law enforcement officers came for her and searched her. The ex-president was found in a box under the bed.
She was detained as part of a coup investigation and taken to La Paz, where she is to testify. Former Minister of Justice Alvaro Coimbra and ex-Minister of Energy Rodrigo Guzman were also detained. In addition, prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for three former members of the Agnes government and ex-commanders of the army, navy and air force. Charges of “terrorism, incitement to rebellion and conspiracy” were brought against them
The detention of Agnes was announced earlier on March 13 by the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo del Castillo. “I inform the Bolivians that Ms. Jeanine Agnes has already been detained and is currently in the hands of the police,” he wrote on Twitter.
