Former President of South Korea, sentenced to death

Former president of South Korea, Chon Du Hwan died in the 91st year of life, reports Renhap agency.

In 1979, he committed a military coup and came to power and remained in office until 1988. In 1996, Chon Du Hwwan was sentenced to the death penalty on corruption charges and for his role in the suppression of the 1980 uprising, but then the verdict was replaced by life imprisonment. He was pardoned then to power by the President of South Korea Kim De Zhong.
