The prosecutor’s office notes that Durov was exempted for court supervision with an obligation to make a deposit of five million euros. He must appear in the police twice a week. He was forbidden to leave France.
The press release of the Paris prosecutor’s office says that Telegram is a messenger created in 2013, who appeared in a number of cases related to various crimes, including sexualized violence against children.
The prosecutor’s office emphasized that the investigation began after the French authorities noticed that Telegram practically did not respond to court requests, which was also indicated by representatives of other European countries, for example, Belgium.
The preliminary investigation began in February 2024 under the leadership of the Paris prosecutor’s office, the court investigation began on July 8.
Recall that Durov was detained at the Parisian Airport Le-Bourge in the evening of August 24.
