The National Assembly of Armenia did not adopt a statement on Karabakh and in terms of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, compiled by the parliamentary factions of opposition blocks “Armenia” and “Honor”. The ruling faction “Civil Agreement”, which constitutes a parliamentary majority, stated that he would not participate in the voting, report Armenian media.
The statement contained accusations against Azerbaijan, as well as the fact that negotiations on Karabakh should be conducted within the framework of the Minsk Group. The document noted that “state borders are determined on the basis of international law, based on the UN Devision Convention, according to which, among other things, an invalid of any border agreement with the use or threat of force.” In addition, it was noted that “no person who represents the Republic of Armenia cannot negotiate, written or oral, which contradict the specified requirements. We demand to refrain from this.”
As stated by the head of the ruling faction of Ayk Konhogyan, their faction was not involved in the process of making a statement and after it tried to receive his consensus option, which failed: “There is a formulation with internal political content, approaches that are part of the political narrative of the opposition, which Unfortunately, we could not reach a consensus with the opposition to remove these formulations from the NA statement. Consequently, the “Civil Agreement” faction will not participate in this vote. “
As a result, the statement was not accepted.
