The decision was made on Wednesday, July 24, at the 142nd IOC session in Paris.
The powers in organizing games were conventionally transferred to France after Switzerland and Sweden withdrew their candidates.
IOC President Thomas Bach Bach said that the contract for the Olympics in the French Alps will be signed only after the provision of state guarantees.
