France parliament on Thursday approved a multi -billion dollar increase in military spending until the end of this decade caused by the Russian war in Ukraine and rapidly growing global threats.
The new budget for the period 2024-2030 is more than a third of the latest plan of military spending in the amount of 295 billion euros for 2019-2025.
The document was approved by the Senate in 313 voices against 17.
Money will go to the modernization of the nuclear arsenal of France, an increase in exploration and development of more remotely controlled weapons.
The new military plan provides for the doubling of the number of military reservists and the strengthening of cyber protection, as well as an increase in the capacities of weapons production both to help Ukraine and the proper support of the French armed forces.
